Early Support for Parents is a Volunteer home visiting program supporting families in their own homes across Southern Tasmania.

Our volunteers support families with:

  • Home visits scheduled to suit both the family and the volunteer. Usually these occur weekly for a period of 1-2 hours
  • telephone contact
  • information
  • appropriate referral
  • someone to talk to
  • general support
  • another pair of hands
  • encouragement
  • hope
  • someone who cares
  • someone to help out
  • time out (in the home)
  • linking to your community
  • someone to cry with
  • someone to laugh with
  • someone to be with
  • creative and flexible support by trusted and trained volunteers

Volunteer training:

All our volunteers complete a training package before they commence home visiting. During training volunteers will look at issues such as:

  • Position description
  • reporting procedures
  • Communication
  • Childhood development and play
  • Organisations policy and procedure
  • OH&S
  • Mandatory reporting and obligations under law
  • Cultural differences
  • Parenting teenagers
  • Self care
  • Safety in Home visiting
